Wailing Woods

Last Updated: September 04, 2018

Hello and welcome to our DoubleXP, Fortnite Battle Royale training. In this clip, we will be taking a closer look at Wailing Woods.

Wailing Woods is a forest located in the north eastern section of the island and at first glance, looks like a relatively large area. However if you take into account the exceptionally limited  number of buildings and structures actually in the area, it remains one of the least active zones in all of Fortnite. There is a bunker located in the middle of a labyrinth like hedge maze filled with loot; however you don’t have to navigate through the maze if you are in a rush as you can simply break through the hedges. Players will typically avoid landing in Wailing Woods as there can only ever be a maximum of 2 chests. It can also be considered a rough landing zone due to the lack of architecture in the early game phase. Not only does this mean you’ll be left with limited resources, but also find yourself with limited cover when engaging in combat. In terms of said combat, you are able to use the trees to take cover if need be; however if you do have a long range weapon such as a sniper, the bunker can be a nice place to camp out and pick off players as they come in towards the end of any given match. Ultimately, Wailing Woods typically serves as a transitional zone that players pop in and out of throughout the later stages of a match. With that said, if you’re brand new to Fortnite, it could be a great area to drop into to avoid heated early game confrontation.

And that wraps up this piece of Training. We hope you are enjoying DoubleXP. Feel free to click through to nearby area overviews so that you can entirely familiarize yourself with the map of Fortnite, Battle Royale.
