The water pump station puzzle in The Medium is the final major conundrum to solve. It is arguably the most convoluted of the puzzles in Bloober Team’s psychological horror title, but you won’t have any issues with it with our help.
After you escape The Maw, follow a linear path around the station until you reach the control room. Before you do anything, press the button next to the locked door on your left. This will make it easier to traverse the station.
Head out of the unlocked door and follow the path until you enter a room with the number one on a pillar, which you can see on the screen above. Take the path in front of you through a door to the Central Chamber. Take a right along this walkway and grab some Spirit Energy from the Spirit Well in this room.
Head back to the room that you entered to escape The Maw and use your Spirit Blast to activate the power generator. Now, interact with the control panel.
There are six buttons you can press to transport water across three chambers and two tanks. Divert the water out of the West Chamber into the Central Chamber so you can access the first water tank. Go back to the room labeled “one” and walk down the stairs to your left.
Use Spirit Shield to bypass the moth swarm to reach the water tank’s valve. Open the valve so you can transfer water to the tank. Replenish your Spirit Energy so you can use Spirit Shield on your way back and return to the control room.
Move the water from the Central Chamber to the first water tank and the West Chamber. Then, transfer water from the East Chamber to the Central Chamber, which grants you access to the former.
Head right and follow the path round until you can go downstairs in the East Chamber. Follow that walkway down to the next water tank. The valve wheel is missing, so follow the path along to a dead end. Open the locker with your bolt cutters, grab the wheel, and place it on the valve. Open the valve so you can transfer water to the second tank.
Return to the control panel. Fill the second water tank and move the last of the water into the West Chamber. The East and Central Chambers should be completely empty. Go back through the East Chamber and follow the path to the locker. The door next to it is now open. Go through it using Spirit Shield to avoid an incoming moth swarm to exit the area.
