The best weapons in Zombie Army 4: Dead War

These weapons will shred Nazi zombies with ease.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War

Rebellion’s Zombie Army 4: Dead War is available now, and it has no shortage of undead Nazis to kill. Taking place in 1940’s Europe, the game is full of action and gore. And it’s excellent for either playing solo or with friends in drop-in/drop-out co-op.

The game has an array of weapons to choose from, including pistols, rifles, and secondary weapons. Finding the proper loadout might take some time, so we’re here to help with a breakdown of the best weapons to use in the game.

Your taste may vary, depending on whether you feel like using a sniper rifle to pick off the undead from a distance or delivering a shotgun blast to their faces. (It’s more fun than you might think.) Overall, these are the most effective choices available, and they get even better as you level up and get more damaging mods.

Zombie Army 4’s best rifle

There are three rifles to choose from overall, ideal for picking off targets from a distance. Like with Rebellion’s Sniper Elite games, you can also hold your breath to aim with more precision. That’s excellent if you’re trying to hit explosive barrels or a hanging pile of metal that can crush whatever’s underneath it.

With the Gewehr 43, you’re capable of setting up an electrified barrel. By firing your shots at zombies, they become electrically charged, taking out any others that are around them. The shots only last for so long, but they’re highly effective when it comes to cleaning out a crew of those pesky Nazi zombies.

Meanwhile, the M1 Garand has a flame barrel. Firing it can set zombies on fire, which is just about as damaging as electrical shots. At first, the incendiary mod used with this gun sets up charged shots. As you level up, however, you can increase the blast for more significant effects. Again, it’s suitable for wiping out large groups.

Finally, the Mosin-Nagant M91/30 uses explosive shots. If you’re looking to make a massive bang, even from a distance, this is an excellent weapon to have. You can also increase its level with your rank, making each shot more damaging and increasing its blast radius.

Probably the weakest of the bunch is the Gewehr. Although, some fans might get a, ahem, charge out of it. The Mosin-Nagant, meanwhile, is outstanding when you want your explosion shots to count, but takes a while to charge. Out of the three, the M1 Garand seems the most balanced, especially as you install mods. Plus, the way it produces fire blasts is very cool.

Zombie Army 4’s best secondary weapon

In this category, you’ll find both shotguns and assault rifles.

Shotguns are good for blasting a zombie to the ground with their blasts. Sadly, they take a while to reload. On the other hand, assault rifles and tommy guns provide a higher burst of firepower, but not as powerful.

Like the M1 Garand, the M30 Drilling has a flame barrel. At first, you’ll have to wait for its barrel to heat up to fire it. However, as you level up and add mods, you’ll be able to reduce the length of said barrel, reducing recoil and improving aiming. The reload speed also picks up quite a bit.

Next up is the MP44. This weapon has an excellent overall balance when it comes to its rate of fire and reload speed. However, it has tiny clips, so you might need to reload more often than expected. It shares a trait with the Mosin-Nagant M91/30 through explosive shots. As you increase it, the MP44 gives you semi-auto fire and an increased blast radius. It’s a solid deal when it comes to cleaning out a group quickly, provided you can reload in a timely fashion.

The Trench Gun is next. It has a slow rate of fire like the shotgun before it. However, it reloads a lot quicker and does an impressive amount of damage. It also uses an electric mod, which, when leveled up, creates electrical arcs to hit groups, and even gets an increased rate of fire.

Finally, there’s the Thompson tommy gun. It’s not very good from a distance. However, use it in a close-range group, and it should clean the house accordingly. It comes with a Divine Mod. As you charge it up, it will produce double the damage, making it useful against tougher enemies. Leveling it up will extend the rounds you can fire from 30 to 60, as well as the ability to attach a bayonet for extra melee damage.

Overall, the Thompson tommy gun is a favorite for Zombie Army lovers, and it’s not hard to see why. Still, you can’t go wrong with a shotgun that can spitfire. Again, your preference may vary, but there’s something about the power that the M30 Drilling possesses.

Zombie Army 4’s best pistol

While these are the weakest weapons in the game, they serve as a great secondary tool should you run out of ammunition for the others and not immediately have access to ammo. Plus, each one on this list is reasonably accurate when it comes to firing.

The C96 Pistol has the largest magazine, which is perfect for shooting zombies multiple times when they’re rushing at you. It also comes with a Flame Barrel, which you can level up with an increased incendiary blast and fully automatic firing. Once it reaches this point, it has a right amount of kick.

Meanwhile, the M1911 is equally reliable. It, too, has a rather high rate of fire, so you can nail multiple shots on a Nazi zombie with ease. It also has a large magazine, so reloading isn’t a common problem. It comes with the Divine mod, dishing out double damage with charged shots. Eventually, you can multiply how many shots you take and even attach a scope for more accuracy. Once you reach level 3, a serrated bayonet also becomes available, excellent for melee damage.

Last but not least, there’s the Webley MKVI. Though slightly weaker than the previous pistols, it packs a big bang thanks to its explosive mod. Power this up, and you’ll pick up its accuracy quite a bit, along with reloading speed

All three pistols are suitable for the long haul. If we had to choose overall though, we’d go with the M1911. Once you perk up its Divine capability and add a scope, there’s no group of zombies you won’t be able to stop.

Winner: M1911
