What are the difficulty differences in Ghost ‘n’ Goblins Resurrection?

It's a matter of life and death...mostly death.

Capcom’s love letter to their arcade history has returned with Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins Resurrection, the Nintendo Switch exclusive throwback to one of the series that put them on the map during the height of arcade popularity. New fans and series veterans alike can look forward to side-scrolling action, hordes of undead monsters, and death. Let’s take a look at how you can adjust the difficulty levels to give yourself more of a fighting chance to finish the game, starting with the most punishing.

Legend

If you’re nostalgic for the smell of greasy pizza and bowling shoes, this is the difficulty for you. You can get hit once while in your armor, reducing your character to underwear. One additional hit, and you’re reduced to the same pile of bones that you’ve been fighting throughout each stage. You might instinctively reach for another quarter in your pocket on this difficulty.

Knight

This slight step down from Legend will mercifully grant you one extra hit, making your armor just a bit more durable against enemies. That means you can take up to three hits of damage before you have to dig your own grave. Knight also gives you checkpoints throughout the stage, so you won’t necessarily need to complete an entire level again if you die.

Squire

Squire difficulty increases the amount of armor protection from Knight, and you’ll notice a reduction of enemies on screen. This makes the four hits you can take against the demons even more valuable as you work your way through the bosses.

Page

As a Page, you get a special bonus. If you run out of armor and die, you can respawn immediately without doing the stage all over again. There’s no need to worry about your amount of lives, either, so if you want a guaranteed way to finish Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins Resurrection, choose Page difficulty. The reduced enemy count from Squire also applies to Page.
