News for Mortal Kombat 11’s upcoming DLC may be coming next week.

Mortal Kombat 11 has had an interesting post-launch. The game was released with strong reviews and great sales, but the controversy surrounding the game often overshadowed the positive news. From accusation towards NetherRealm’s terrible working conditions to Mortal Kombat 11’s over-reliance on grinding, the game hasn’t had the most positive image.

With that said, the game has proven to be still popular. Players continue to play the game, and the fans are anxiously anticipating the DLC characters the game will release in the Kombat Pack.

The Kombat Pack contains six DLC characters that will release in the game’s future. Kombat Pack is essentially a season pass for DLC characters. It has become more of an accepted custom of fighting games to have a season pass full of DLC character available for purchase at launch.

NetherRealm Studios have already announced who will be the first DLC character. Shang Tsung, the main villain of the first Mortal Kombat game, was announced. Shang Tsung will be voiced by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the actor who portrayed the character in the first Mortal Kombat movie.

Other than Shang Tsung, we don’t know who else will be a part of DLC. Shang Tsung’s character model are in the game already; the player sees him when they enter the Krypt mode for the first time. However, we haven’t seen any gameplay footage of Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11.

That will probably change soon if what the game’s director recently said on Twitter turns out to be true. Ed Boon is the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, and he serves as Mortal Kombat 11’s lead director. He is known for his presence on Twitter, as he often adopts a troll-like persona in his tweets. Boon on his Twitter account reveals that news on 11’s DLC may be coming out next week.

The Tweet doesn’t make it seem as if the news is a for sure thing though. Boon writes that if all goes well, the news for the rest of the DLC fighters in the season one pass will be revealed next week. It is possible that not everything will go according to plan, and the announcement of the DLC may get postponed.
