As The Medium continued developer Bloober Team’s long history of exploration horror games, its next title will likely be a far departure. It may include various ways to fight off whatever creepy monsters its follow-up horror game brings.
A recent job listing on Bloober’s website details the search for a combat programmer capable of creating systems for both “melee and ranged” attacks. Along with the mention that this programmer will need to work closely with other combat designers, it also asks that this potential hire be “a fan of a horror genre.”
Although this could lead many to believe a revolutionary sequel to one of its existing franchises is in the works, the listing was later followed by a tweet from designer Artur Laczkowski noting the position is for “a new big project.”
When asked only a short time ago what its next game could be, Bloober’s Wojciech Peijko told VG247, “Maybe Observer 2…we are always wondering.” Well, now it appears evident that wondering has turned into a fully imagined project, but of course, it will be a while until it comes to the forefront.
For now, players will have to stick to simply running away from all the spooky souls buried within The Medium, a title we deemed “the studio’s best game to date.”
